Oh man do I have some donk photos from Columbia, TN. That place didn't have much going for it but I thoroughly applaud their automotive taste.

Well it’s not a ‘71-’76 Impala or Caprice so I'm gonna go with no, it's not a donk. You wouldn't call a Mercedes a Bimmer.

I don’t think that counts as a donk. Just terrible taste in wheels.

I think it's an insult to that poor Buick is what it is. Someone finding out they can without stopping to think if they should....

You made me look it up . All this time, I didn’t realize that “donk” was brand-specific.

It’s too bad, since none of those names are in any literal or intuitive way connected to the idea of this kind of modification.

Now that I know that “donk” means “donkey”, the name itself seems to imply that any kind of Impala could qualify, modified or not. “Box” is even less descriptive, and there are plenty of other cars that look “bubble-like” to me.

I wish there was a better name for this that could include any brand. “Hi-riser” feels just a little too formal, and “sky-scraper” is kind of boring. “Donk” has a playful, goofy ring to it that just feels right.
